Association

The Radio Astronomy Association Switzerland (RAAS) is a working group of the Swiss Astronomical Society. The members are engaged in the detection and the recording of electromagnetic radiation from celestial bodies, objects and from outer space. The radio spectrum represents an extension of the visible electromagnetic spectrum, but relies on fundamentally different instruments. Together, these two spectral regions complement each other perfectly. This allows for even more comprehensive conclusions to be drawn about the age, composition, state, and activity of stars and astronomical objects. In addition, some members are involved in the construction of antennas and electronic components of various designs.
