Today:   Time of rise and set of Sun and Moon.

Call for observations:   Detect the first burst of the new solar cycle no. 25!

Chronicle

July 08, 2024:   Christian Monstein and Peter Hirt published their latest articles:
"Die Sonne einmal anders beobachten"
"Sonnenfinsternis USA 8.4.2024 im Radiolicht" and
"Low-frequency solar radio type II bursts".
Congratulations to these interesting contributions!

January 28, 2022:   Peter Hirt (MUHEN) published an article in the Swiss astronomical magazine ORION (issue 1/22). His highly interesting contribution is called "Jagd auf die kosmische Strahlung". Thanks to this fine article!

August 01, 2021:   Peter Hirt (MUHEN) published an article in the Swiss astronomical magazine ORION (issue 3/21). His highly interesting contribution is called "Die Milchstrasse im Radiobereich beobachten". Congratulations to this fine article!

January 03, 2021:   The observing station MUHEN of Peter Hirt installed a Cosmic Rays Detector, made of 2 pcs. of Geiger-Müller counters, type SBM-20. Download the description and the actual recording for detailled information.
More cosmics...

November 29, 2020:   The observing station MUHEN of Peter Hirt implemented a self-made Radio receiver designed for the observation of Neutral Hydrogen at wavelength 21cm.
See the Scan of the Galactic plane, showing the radial velocities.

October 15, 2020:   The observing station VALLENSIS of Robert Glaisen installed a Cosmic Particles Detector. Follow the links for daily and archive data.

July 19, 2020:   Welcome to the new station: The observing station FREIENBACH (FRE) is operated by Christian Monstein. His self-made equipment is designed for the observation of Neutral Hydrogen at wavelength 21cm.

June 01, 2020:   The observing station VALLENSIS of Robert Glaisen installed a Meteor Scatter Receiver. Follow the links for daily and archive data.

April 28, 2020:   The observing station MUHEN of Peter Hirt implemented a live access to the LDPA radio spectrometer, showing the activity in the range of 45-870 MHz during the last 15 minutes (if active).

April 15, 2020:   The observing station MUHEN of Peter Hirt installed a LPDA (Logarithmic-Periodic Dipol Array). The new device is also part of the e-Callisto network. For detailed information please visit Equipment and Recordings.

November 24, 2019:   The observing station MUHEN of Peter Hirt installed a Geiger-Müller counter, type SBM-20. For daily and statistical data, please follow the recordings.

August 1, 2019:   The observing station MUHEN of Peter Hirt installed a Geiger-Müller counter, type EMB3. For daily and statistical data, please follow the recordings.

April 14, 2019:   Welcome to the new station: The observing station VALLENSIS is located in Brig and is operated by Robert Glaisen. The equipment is designed for the recording of Sudden Ionospheric Disturbances (SID).

March 9, 2019:   The station SWISS-MUHEN recorded the first burst of type 2.

Jan. 29, 2019:   The station SWISS-MUHEN recorded the first burst of type 1.

Sept. 29, 2018:   New location: The antenna and the electronic components of the station swiss-muhen were moved to their definitive position: On the roof of the car port. The situation concerning the receive of noisy signals remained mostly unchanged, according the screenshot of the two polarizations Callisto 01 (upper part) and Callisto 02 (lower part). The station runs stable. As a result of the currently very low activity of the sun, there are no bursts expected for the moment.

Aug. 9, 2018:   The station SWISS-MUHEN recorded the first burst of type 3.

July 17, 2018:   The Solar Radio Spectrometer of Peter Hirt was connected to the international e-Callisto Network. The station is called SWISS-MUHEN and delivers the data directly to the network server of FHNW.
